Common foot/ankle injuries and conditions
This is one of the most common foot and ankle injuries in adults. Millions of patients being treated for this annually. Plantar fasciitis is a heel injury caused by the inflammation of the Fascia band of tissue that connects the toes to the heel bone. People will experience pain within the first few steps prior to resting for a prolonged period of time. Once the band has been given time to stretch, the pain will usually subside significantly, however will flare up again after it has been rested.
Achilles Tendonitis or tear
The largest tendon in the body, the Achilles, connects the 2 primary calf muscles to bone in the heel. Therefore, overexertion or overuse of foot leads to swelling and pain in the back of the heel, which is common in athletes. Achilles Tendonitis mostly occurs after a repetitive or intense strain has been placed on the Achilles tendon. It may start as a mild ache, developing into a more severe pain. Then you may begin to experience tenderness or stiffness, particularly in the morning.
Strained or sprained ankle
A ligament may have been stretched or torn, prior to forcing the ligaments beyond their normal range of movement. It is one of the most common foot and ankle injuries. However, it is best to seek chiropractic care to aid the correct rehabilitation process of the sprain and to ensure the joint is still aligned. Ultimately, repeated ankle sprains can cause arthritis.
Flat footed/Fallen Arches
Being flat footed should not cause you much noticeable pain. However, if you are experiencing any discomfort or stress, then certain exercises, stretches and insoles can help. Foot insoles is a product that we supply.
