Osteoarthritis is one of the biggest causes of hip pain in adults. You may experience mild inflammation of the tissues in and around the hip joint and cartilage damage. Bony growths (osteophytes) that develop around the edge of the hip joint. There is no cure for osteoarthritis, but chiropractic can help optimize the mobility and function of the help, alongside relieving pain.
Misaligned Hip Joint
The bones of the hip may rub together due to the hip joint being an abnormal shape or the hip socket is out of alignment, whereby you may experience grinding or popping.
This is mostly common in the elderly due to weaker bones. You will need to consult with your GP before treatment.
Other causes of hip pain may be: a hamstring injury, an inflamed ligament in the thigh caused by excessive running, bone infection and a tear in the ring of cartilage surrounding the socket of the hip joint. High impact sports and exercises can cause hip pain. So does running on hard surfaces, a fall and lack of stretching and warming-up before sports.
How chiropractic can help you
Here at the Bedford Chiropractic Clinic, we aim to identify and treat the cause of your hip pain. We will perform a thorough body examination. From these findings, we will identify the root of your pain and how we are going to treat your hip pain. We use physical manipulations using our hands or an activator to re-align the hip and minimise any popping or grinding. We aim to relieve you of pain and eliminate and prevent hip pain or damage, with treatment tailored to you. We’ll also refer you to our sports therapists if we feel their treatment is better suited for you. We also offer orthotics, stretches and exercises to help with mobility, stiffness and relieve pain. Promoting mobility and function in the hip is the main goal of our treatment.
